LAGOS LG POLLS: KOSOFE NDIGBO ENDORSES MOYO OGUNLEWE AND HIS VICE, PRINCE BABATUNDE SALIU.
The Chairmanship aspiration of Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has been given a massive boost with the endorsement of his candidacy by the leadership and members of Ndigbo in Kosofe Local Government Area ahead of July 24 local government polls in Lagos State.
The Leadership of Ndigbo in APC resident in Kosofe Local Government Area at an event held at Gear 5 Opposite Ogudu Mall over the weekend expressed its willingness to support the quest of Barrister Ogunlewe to become the next executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government.
The Special Adviser on Water Resources and Dredging to the Lagos Governor, Engineer Joe Igbokwe, who was the special guests of honour at the event and also the Apex leader of APC Ndigbo in Lagos State, assured Barrister Ogunlewe of Ndigbo bloc votes in July 24 local government polls.
He however advised the chairmanship candidate to give the Ndigbo a sense of belonging in the local government by rewarding them with political appointments such as supervisors, special Advisers, SSA etc. in his administration.
Responding, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe thanked the leadership of Ndigbo for their support and assured that every ethnic nationality would be given a sense of belonging in his administration.
He said, “Local Government is the most important tier of government in Nigeria because of its closeness to the grassroots. Whatever that is happening in the country now, we must start resolving it at the local government level. We must start showing example from the local government. I want to start by showing example which is you must have a representative in the next government”
He therefore appealed to the gathering of Ndigbo to come out in large numbers on July 24 and vote for him.
He noted that his target is to garner about 50000 votes on the day of the election out of 162000 registered voters in Kosofe Local Government; adding that the target would be very difficult to realize without the support of the non-indigenes.
The Lagos East Senatorial District Ndigbo leader, High Chief Kelvin Nwaoha explained that the programme was specifically organised to encourage other Ndigbo in the local government opportunity of being part of the next administration.
And while describing Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe as a dynamic young man, he appealed to other Igbo in the area to vote massively for him.
In the same vein, the Apex Leader of Ndi gbo in APC Kosofe LGA, High chief Chima Oguamanam while giving assurance of Ndigbo bloc votes to Barrister Ogunlewe, stressed that the gathering was basically organised to evince their support for the APC Chairmanship flagbearer in Kosofe Local Government
Barrister Moyo Ogunlewe was accompanied by the councillorship candidates.and other party members.
